Kids Shelf is a self-hosted, local-network web app that gives children a curated internet experience: YouTube downloads, offline Kiwix libraries, personal video folders, and built-in screen-time management with math/spelling rewards. It bundles yt-dlp, ffmpeg, and kiwix-serve into a single signed, self-updating binary aimed at non-technical parents. The idea of a private, algorithm-free family media server is appealing, though it competes with existing parental-control and media-server tools.

Target audience: Non-technical parents and families running a home server
