Show HN: Portal – Native Ghostty and Web View as Emacs Buffers

Category: devtools

Tags: emacs, macos, webkit, terminal, native-module

Score: 7.5/10 (Innovation: 8, Technical: 9, Documentation: 8, Utility: 5)

Portal embeds native WebKit and Ghostty terminal views inside macOS Emacs buffers via a Swift dynamic module and Bun-based app host. It lets Emacs manage web pages and terminals with buffer semantics (splits, frames, hiding) while keeping native performance, enabling workflows like Markdown preview and Excalidraw without leaving the editor.

Target audience: Emacs users on macOS, particularly developers who want integrated web previews and terminals
