pdf2epub is a macOS tool that converts PDFs (both born-digital and scanned) into clean reflowable EPUBs using PDFKit, Vision OCR, and Apple's Foundation Models for targeted cleanup. It features sophisticated layout heuristics, a custom zip writer, and support for e-ink devices like Xteink. The project stands out for its deep PDF parsing and pragmatic use of on-device LLM for proofreading.
