notslack is a native Rust reimplementation of the Slack desktop client, built on GPUI (the GPU-accelerated UI framework behind Zed) to replace Electron's Chromium/Node.js stack. It reuses the existing Slack Desktop session, renders pixel-perfect UI directly to the GPU, and cuts memory usage from ~1.16 GB to ~165 MB. The broader nothq project aims to rewrite Electron apps natively one at a time.
Target audience: desktop app developers, Rust developers, power users frustrated with Electron memory usage
