OpenXW is a modern reimplementation of Star Wars: X-Wing that runs original game data natively on Windows, macOS, and Linux, supporting both the 1994 Collector's CD-ROM and 1998 Windows editions. It offers enhanced graphics (shadows, bloom, MSAA, FSR, HDR), reimplemented adaptive iMUSE music, modern controls, and the ability to mix content from both editions. This is an impressive reverse-engineering and porting effort that preserves classic gameplay while modernizing presentation and input.
Target audience: retro gaming enthusiasts, game developers, reverse engineers, Star Wars fans
