Zotero Semantic Search is a plugin that adds local, multilingual semantic search over PDFs in a Zotero library. It indexes passages using on-device embeddings, supports multiple models, integrates tightly with Zotero's UI, and exposes an MCP server for AI assistants. The project is well-documented, technically sophisticated, and fills a clear gap for researchers.

Target audience: researchers, academics, and developers using Zotero
