Show HN: Nowly – An open-source alternative to PreMiD for Discord Rich Presence

Category: devtools

Tags: discord, rich-presence, browser-extension, presence-sdk

Score: 5.3/10 (Innovation: 4, Technical: 5, Documentation: 7, Utility: 5)

Nowly is a source-available alternative to PreMiD that displays web activity (like videos and music) as Discord Rich Presence, using a browser extension and a native desktop app to bridge data to Discord without routing through its servers. It offers a presence authoring SDK and CLI for creating custom integrations, with a focus on privacy. While not fully open-source, it fills a gap for customizable presence scripts and community contributions.

Target audience: Discord users, developers, and hobbyists who want to enhance their Discord presence with web activity
